REVIEW

A younger Dublin woman searches for her soul mate on this murky spiritual quest from famous bestselling Brazilian novelist Coelho (The Witch of Portobello ), first posted in 1990 and available in English within the U.S. For the primary time. Brida O'Fern, 21, discovers she has occult powers and seeks out  masters who will validate her capabilities and educate her the way to emerge as a real witch. One, the Magus, two times her age, is a trainer inside the Tradition of the Sun, who acknowledges Brida as his very own soul mate, and urges humility. The other is Wicca, her teacher of the Moon, a mature, wealthy female who advocates senses-altering intercourse, and who's keen to recognise what the Magus, with whom she once had a courting, sees in Brida. For her element, Brida is already in love with Lorens, a modest, unassuming physics scholar who progressively involves embody her religious view of the sector no matter his scientific heritage. Brida's initiation into magic entails a desire among the two guys at the same time as staying genuine to her present. The relationships and occult elements don't quite blend, and Coelho steers a cluttered direction among Christian and pagan visions.
